Experts have long predicted an AI revolution. In the software industry, it occurred at the end of 2025, providing an early glimpse of what awaits the rest of the job market – and what it means for the profiles that companies are looking for.
Since a new AI model was introduced in December 2025, the work of software developers has fundamentally changed. Developers now use AI to write up to 100% of the code in a program – a task that previously required many hours of focused effort.
This is not just a technical breakthrough. It is a foretaste of what will happen in other industries when AI suddenly becomes capable enough to take over core tasks.
At large IT firms, reports indicate that productivity has multiplied, and coding work hours have significantly decreased.
However, this has not led to mass layoffs. On the contrary, new figures from the IT Industry show that job postings in the sector increased by 12% from Q4 2025 to Q1 2026, with AI and machine learning specialists being the fastest-growing category.
The content of jobs, on the other hand, is changing. Developers’ time is shifting from writing code to functioning as solution architects: planning, communicating with clients, and setting the right requirements. This raises new expectations for candidate profiles – even outside the software industry.
Recruit IT’s perspective:
We are already seeing that tech companies increasingly demand profiles that combine technical understanding with strong communication skills and business acumen. AI does not change who gets hired – but it changes what they need to be capable of when they show up on day one.
